Materials

Every ring in Chapter I is made the same way, from the same four things.

The base

Hypoallergenic brass. It's dense, it holds a shape, and it has enough weight that the ring feels like something when you put it on. Brass is what most fine costume jewellery is built on, for good reason — it takes plating well and it doesn't bend out of true.

The plating

14K gold, applied over the brass and sealed with a protective e-coat.

The e-coat is the part most brands skip. It's a clear layer over the gold that slows down the two things that dull plated jewellery: contact with skin, and contact with everything else. It's also what sits between the metal and you.

Plating is a surface rather than a solid metal, so it rewards a little care. Our care guide covers what to avoid.

The stones

We use a combination of Zirconia (AAA) and Hydro Quartz.

The specific colour in each ring is listed under Details on its product page.

The band

2.5 mm across, on every model. Slim enough to stack, substantial enough to wear on its own.

Made for wearing

None of this is delicate. The rings are meant to be worn — put on in the morning, noticed at lunch, taken off at night. Treated reasonably, they hold up.
